Coles to expand checkouts

ColesIn an unprecedented move, Coles will open 2600 extra checkouts every day across Australia to speed up customer service for shoppers across Australia between now and Christmas Day.

For the next six days and on New Year’s Eve, Coles will invest in an additional 25,000 shifts for its team members so all possible checkouts in Coles supermarkets nationally remain open during the busiest times each day.

John Durkan, MD, Coles, said Coles had invested millions of dollars to minimise waiting times for customers and ensure fast and friendly service in the lead up to Christmas.

“We’re always looking for ways to make shopping at Coles easier and more affordable for Australian families so for the first time ever, we have decided to invest millions of dollars into opening all possible checkouts across the nation for the next six days.”

“Christmas is an enjoyable but often hectic time of the year so we hope our team members can help customers spend less time waiting to be served and more time with their families and friends,” Durkan said.

In addition, over the past two years Coles has invested millions of dollars in customer service, with 3000 extra checkouts installed, 200,000 hours additional team member training provided and more team members in Assisted Checkout areas to help customers.
