US brand Enjoy Life Foods has announced its plan to launch in Australia this July.
They will be releasing their Crunchy Cookies and Chewy Bars product range this week in supermarkets.
The new product range is ideal for those allergic to the seven food allergens: gluten, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy and sesame.
These allergens account for the majority of most common food allergies and intolerances in the country, according to the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).
Australia has reported a dramatic rise in food allergies in recent years, with one in five currently living with food allergies and intolerances. One in three Australians has more than one allergy while 10 per cent of infants develop a food allergy. These rates are similar to those in the US, making Australia a natural market for Enjoy Life Foods to extend its brand to.
“Food allergies can take a heavy toll on your health and wellbeing and it is a growing problem in Australia,”said dietitian, author and speaker Melanie McGrice.
The Medical Journal of Australia has shown there was a fourfold increase in food allergies and intolerances over a 12 year period.
“Living with an allergy can be hard. Those with allergies are often limited with their food choices and don’t have access to the same convenience and variety that other Australians do.”

Enjoy Life Foods Snacks will be available nationwide at Woolworths this July 2017.
