Lion Dairy & Drinks has began its 2018 Lion Dairy Pride Landcare grant applications for Aussies.
“For the first time, we’ll also be inviting our orange growers to participate through the inaugural Lion Orchard Pride Landcare Grants program,” said Lion’s managing director Kathy Karabatsas.
Karabatsas said the liquor company first partnered with Landcare Australia in 2014 to launch the Landcare Grants program for its dairy farmer partners.
“The Lion Landcare grants programs are designed to help our dairy farmers and orange growers develop more sustainable practices on their farms, increase business efficiencies, lower their operating costs and secure the long-term sustainability for their business,” Karabatsas said.
“Results to date have been fantastic. Last year alone saw an average of 8 per cent energy savings since project implementation, the installation of 544 energy-efficient devices and 500 plants planted – these results are a testament to both our dairy farmers, and our partnership with Landcare Australia.”
This year the beverage company extended it to orange grower partners with eight grants now available for Lion dairy farmers and two for its orange growers.
“The program is one of many initiatives Lion has put in place to create a more sustainable business across our agricultural supply chains,” concluded Karabatsas.
