New Zealand dairy manufacturer Keytone Dairy has received its first order from retail giant Walmart for its
subsidiary Sam’s Club China
The ASX-listed dairy producer, which has operations in both Australia and New Zealand, will provide $NZ107,000 ($AU100,000) worth of whole milk and skim milk powder for the first order.
In May, Keytone was awarded an open-ended contract by Walmart China to manufacture milk powder for Sam’s Club Chinese network of 18 superstores.
The membership-only retail warehouse chain from the US has stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Wuhan among other locations.
Keytone sells milk powders, health and sports nutrition products, and produces its own brands while also manufacturing for private labels.
The dairy producer said in a statement to the ASX that the Walmart contract is “highly strategic” for the company given the size and number of stores Sam’s Club operates in China.
