Tooshies by Tom has launched sustainable bamboo-based nappies, the first of their kind on sale in Australian supermarkets.

According to the company, the sustainable nappies are made from renewable bamboo and 100-per-cent biodegradable backsheet. The nappies are also designed for babies’ sensitive skin. Bamboo is used as a sustainable material because it is fast-growing, requires little water and generates up to 30 per cent more oxygen than other trees and crops.

“Australian parents use 5.5 million disposable nappies a day. It’s shocking to think that much plastic ends up in landfill,” said Aimee Marks, founder of Tooshies by Tom.

“My top priority is creating products that are high performing and also allow for parents to make conscious choices, putting the future of our children first.”

Marks said that the company is finding more new material and manufacturing processes to improve its sustainability. Tooshies by Tom is also working with its community to ensure the quality and safety of the products.

The Tooshies by Tom bamboo nappies are available online and in-store at Coles, Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse and independent retailers, at RRP $20.
