General Mills appoints new MD for Australia and New Zealand business

General Mills has appointed a new MD for its Australia and New Zealand division – Matthew Salter who returns Down Under after six years in senior roles for the company in Europe.

After more than 25 years in the food industry, Salter takes the helm at a time when the company has weathered unprecedented challenges to business and lifestyle due to the pandemic.

“As we pivot from the pandemic in a position of strength, I am committed to maintaining momentum in Australia and New Zealand,” Salter said in a statement.

“We are fortunate that our product offerings are all in growth facing categories, like on-trend Mexican meal centres, family favourite fresh pasta, snacking, baking, and premium ice cream.”

General Mills’ brand portfolio includes Cheerios, Nature Valley, Blue Buffalo, Häagen-Dazs, Old El Paso, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Yoplait, and Annie’s.

Salter said he is eager to build on General Mills’ success “by exploring new solutions to real consumer problems in its product categories”.

“I have an appetite for experimentation and for trying new approaches to learn in order to continue to reinforce the purpose of our brands.”
