South Australian brewers Prancing Pony Brewing, Barossa Valley Brewing and Route 9 Distellery have teamed up to brew a limited-edition beer to raise money for charities helping the victims of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The beer – dubbed ‘Puck Futin’ – has been well received in Australia with pre-orders for the first batch selling out within an hour. The recipe for the beer was shared by Pravda Beer Theatre, a Ukraine based brewery that invited breweries around the world to join the cause.
Lisa Liebelt, head of sales at Prancing Pony Brewery, took to LinkedIn to explain the campaign.
“We posted a presale opportunity on our website yesterday and by this morning we booked a second batch. Lunchtime today this too has presold. Almost 10,000 litres of beer,” she said.
This American red ale boasts 5.8 per cent ABV with a grassy citrus aroma accompanied by flavours from Columbus and Cascade hops.
The brewery will donate $15 from each 12 pack to charities assisting in humanitarian aid in Ukraine or to assist Ukrainian refugees arriving in Australia.
