Online platform Open Pantry links hospitality venues with suppliers

An online platform called Open Pantry has been created to assist hospitality businesses and venues discover and place orders with suppliers.

Businesses can access suppliers across poultry, fruit and vegetables, dry and frozen goods, beverages, alcohol and packaging on the portal.

Geoff Philcox, the founder of Open Pantry, said that even with the emergence of online ordering, chefs still do not like using them. “So we made it our goal to make ordering faster and easier than an email or a phone call.”

The digital order management system also offers real-time stock and accounting integration services complemented by other features including financial reporting, customer order reminders, menu costing and HR, depending on user preferences.

Philcox added the website incorporates important information, support and tools that businesses in the food and beverage industry need in order to operate smoothly and conveniently.

On a broader scale, the website will help restaurants cost out their menus and actively track profits on a daily basis. He says that as venues predict and automate ordering, the platform can also help actively lower wastage.
