Aussie startup Uproot Food makes alt-salmon from carrots

Uproot Food has launched Australia’s first plant-based smoked salmon made from carrots called ‘Salmon Not Salmon’.

The husband and wife team behind the label, Nathan and Livia Tsivlin, said their love for animals and enjoyment of wholesome plant-based foods inspired them to create the brand.

“We want to provide people with a fantastic tasting plant-based alternative using a minimal amount of wholefood ingredients,” said Tsivlin.

The brand’s alt-salmon has the flavour, texture, smell and appearance of real fish and includes organic ingredients like sunflower oil, apple cider vinegar, kelp and cold pressed flaxseed oil.

The product is now available across vegan grocery stores or through the company’s website.
