The Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) has named Colm Maguire as its new CEO, following a national search led by Touchstone Executive Search

Maguire, who has served as interim CEO since January of this year, joined the organisation in July last year as COO and company secretary. He brings leadership experience across the not-for-profit, health, and sport sectors, including roles as CEO of Touch Football Australia and COO at the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.

“When it comes to delivering for members, I believe the best results come from deliberate engagement, understanding and genuine partnership,” said Maguire.

“I will lead with collaboration as a default – because that’s exactly what this industry needs to tackle the complex issues it faces amid rising global uncertainty.”

AFGC chair Anthony Holme said Maguire had demonstrated “outstanding leadership grounded by empathy, collaboration and decisiveness” during his time in the interim role.

The appointment comes as the AFGC prepares to mark its 30th anniversary and deepen engagement with government and industry to support a resilient food and grocery sector.
