Australia’s fast-growing, Indigenous-owned, female-led start-up Cooee Foods has entered the pet care market with the launch of Bunji – a natural dog food range made from Australian ingredients.

Now available in 163 Bunnings Warehouses nationwide, the new range aims to bring ‘a taste of Country’ to pets across Australia.

Developed by Wiradjuri entrepreneur Terri-Ann “Tezzi” Daniel, Bunji is the latest addition to Cooee’s portfolio. Recent successes include allergen-friendly cookies and snacks, which are now stocked in Woolworths, Ampol, IGA, and on board Qantas flights.

“Bunji is about sharing our story and our connection to Country,” founder and CEO Tezzi Daniel said.

“Our pets are part of the family, and they deserve the same care and quality we bring to our own food. To see Bunji on shelves in Bunnings stores across Australia is incredibly special. It means we’re sharing a little piece of our heritage and kindness with families everywhere.”

Made of Australian ingredients such as bush rosemary, saltbush and sea parsley, Cooee says Bunji will carry natural flavour and nutritional benefits.

‘Bunji’ derives from the Wiradjuri word, meaning ‘mate’ or ‘friend’. Recipes include roast beef and bush rosemary pie, Nanna’s lamb and saltbush stew, and fish and sea parsley mornay.

“We’re proud to partner with Cooee Pet Care Australia to bring Bunji to our customers across Australia,” Bunnings’ director of merchandise, Cam Rist, said.

“The range is a perfect fit, supporting Australian-made innovation and Indigenous entrepreneurship to give our furry friends a healthy, locally inspired option.”
