Discount pharmacy chain, Discount Drug Stores, has announced the rollout of a range of breast health clinics throughout its stores from August until October.
The Spotlight on Breast Health Clinics are an initiative pioneered by the retailer in the pursuit of teaching Australian women about their health and bodies.
Customers who attend the clinics will be taught by a registered nurse how to conduct self examinations by using a silicone breast model, negating the need for a physical examination.
The clinics have been designed to be quick and flexible, with each appointment taking as little as 15 minutes.
“We want to shine a spotlight on breast health, and encourage Australian women to regularly conduct self examinations at home.” Casey Clark, professional services manager, Discount Drug Stores, said.
The enterprise will be funded entirely by the pharmacy company, with customers asked to make a donation upon appointment, with all proceeds raised forwarded to the McGrath Foundation.
The clinics will be rolled out across 115 stores nationally.
