Aldi wins ‘retailer of the year’

Aldi, The German Based Grocery Chain, Is Driving Retail Food PriSupermarket discounter, Aldi, has won the Retailer of the Year award from the Australian Retailers Association.

The grocery game changer took home the 2016 eftpos award at the ARA Australian Retail Awards for its “growth, influence and market leading policies”. The ARA also noted the supermarket chain’s ability to challenge the majors in its category.

“We are proud to be recognised as the price leader in the market, helping Australians live richer lives for less,” a spokesperson for Aldi Australia said. “Every week, over two million Australian shoppers visit Aldi Australia to shop from our range of productsincluding award-winning grocery essentials and exciting special buys, together with fresh fruit and vegetables.”

Aldi Australia, which has 60 new stores in 2016, was also named runner-up in the Retail Employer of the Year category.

This year’s eftpos ARA Australian Retail Awards was held at the Melbourne Grand Hyatt.
