“Do things differently”

Innovate the boring.

That was the theme generating a buzz at the Future Leaders Forum that took place at Sheraton on the Park this week.

The room was filled with future leaders from the FMCG sector listening to a variety of speakers who all came back to one distinct point: do things differently.

Kosta Conomos, executive director of Nielsen, said that future growth will come from different places.

“There is a consumer trend around health and fitness,” said Conomos. “There is too much data … we don’t know what do with it.”

Consumers are more disloyal than they have ever been, added Conomos.

Yngve Andresen, partner at Bain and Company, said that people in the FMCG sector need to cast their net wider. “Collaboration is everywhere,” said Andresen.

Gary Bertwistle, host of The Mojo Radio Show, suggests using a journal to record creativity. “Find that thinking time,” said Bertwistle. He also said it is important to have ideas but more important to act on those ideas.
