Nestlé launches plant-based burger in Australia

FMCG multinational Nestlé has unveiled a new ‘cook from raw’ plant-based burger in Australia this week. The Harvest Gourmet Incredible Burger mimics the taste and texture of a meat burger using plant-based proteins.

The Harvest Gourmet Incredible Burger is made with soy and wheat protein and natural plant extracts – beetroot, carrots and capsicum, with coconut oil to give a marbled fat appearance.

“These new burgers don’t compromise on flavour, texture or cooking experience. They underline Nestlé’s increased focus on tasty, authentic plant-based food,” Tracy Hardwick, Nestlé marketing manager Foods said.

“We believe this trend is here to stay, as consumers look at different ways to enjoy and balance their protein intake and eat more meat-free meals.”

According to a report by Deloitte on the alternative meat industry, one third of Australians are now either flexitarian or actively reducing their intake of meat.

The Incredible Burger is vegan and has a four-star health rating. It is available exclusively in Woolworths supermarkets nationally.
