Nestle to move Allen’s production from New Zealand to Victoria

Nestle is to move production of Allen’s confectionery from Auckland to Australia resulting in the loss of about 45 roles in the New Zealand factory.

According to a report in the New Zealand Herald, the confectionery company will wind down the Allen’s operations by December, however manufacture of Maggi and Docello products will continue in Auckland, along with production of goods for the foodservice sector.

“It has been a commercial decision made after careful consideration of the benefits of simplifying and consolidating manufacture of our Australian lollies,” said Nestle confectionery GM Chris O’Donnell, in a company announcement obtained by the Herald.

It is understood that the chewable Allen’s-branded lollies manufactured in Auckland are exclusively for the Australian market and will now be made in regional Victoria.
