Nestlé and Starbucks have expanded their retail partnership in the US by launching Starbucks Refreshers Concentrates, designed to make cafe-style drinks at home.

The product uses green coffee extract and is available in three fruit flavours: Strawberry Acai, Mango Dragonfruit, and Lime Watermelon. It can be mixed with water, milk or lemonade over ice to create caffeinated beverages.

Starbucks Refreshers have become a key driver of category growth for the brand, and are now the second-best-selling beverage platform in its coffeehouses, behind espresso-based beverages.

According to the company, the launch reflects how consumer beverage habits continue to evolve, as they increasingly seek flavorful customised drinks throughout the day.

“The success of Starbucks Refreshers showed us a strong opportunity beyond traditional coffee,” said Ethel Touitou, Nestlé’s global category lead for Starbucks.

“What started as a popular summer favourite has become a go-to refreshment choice, especially for the midday pick-me-up.

“With Starbucks Refreshers Concentrates, consumers can now easily enjoy a Starbucks coffeehouse-inspired favourite at home, while we continue to expand the brand into new occasions throughout the year,” Touitou added.

Since launching in the US earlier this year, Starbucks Refreshers Concentrates have exceeded expectations, selling out on Amazon after just one day and in more than 1000 Target stores within three days.

The launch is part of the Global Coffee Alliance between Nestlé and Starbucks. Established in 2018, the partnership combines Nestlé’s global reach, expertise and manufacturing capabilities with Starbucks’s iconic brand and coffeehouse heritage.
