Eco-soap start-up wins Trans-Tasman Innovation and Growth Awards

Ethical home cleaning brand Pleasant State is one of four winners of the Trans-Tasman Innovation and Growth Awards 2022, an initiative that aims to recognise emerging businesses that are continuously disrupting and innovating.

Winning companies have a strong focus on the areas of collaboration, growth, talent and wellbeing, funding approach and environment and social impact.

As one of the winners, Pleasant State will receive a prize package that includes a cash injection of $25,000 AUD as well as an exclusive invitation to the 2022 Australian New Zealand Leadership Forum which offers collaboration and networking opportunities attended by Australian and New Zealand senior business and government leaders.

Ami Bateman, CEO & co-founder of Pleasant State, said the company is on a mission to prove that doing good is good for business, “so winning an award that celebrates growth and innovation shows that we’re doing just that”.

“As a bootstrapped, female-founded start-up our hope is that this inspires other women to do the same,” Bateman added. “To be presented the award by both Prime Minister Albanese and Prime Minister Ardern was an honour. We’re so excited to use this momentum to continue to scale, innovate and grow our impact across Australia and New Zealand.”

Pleasant State formulates, manufactures, and sells effective, non-toxic, zero-waste dissolvable cleaning bars made from plant-based surfactants. Pleasant State is now in more than 16,000 homes across Australia and New Zealand and has saved over 85,000 single-use plastic bottles from going to landfills.

Pleasant State’s cleaning bars have been independently verified as safe/non-toxic, responsible, ethical and sustainable. The company is Australia’s only B-Corp ceertified cleaning brand, meaning it meets the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
