I Was A Milk Bottle (IWAMB) has introduced a range of resealable and kitchen tidy bags made from up to 30 per cent recycled milk bottles, aiming to reduce plastic waste sent to landfill.
The company claims it is the first globally to create food-grade bags from recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Traditionally, used milk bottles were downcycled into products such as park benches or bin liners, rather than repurposed for food packaging.
By replacing virgin plastic with recycled material, the brand says it helps cut reliance on fossil fuels and restores confidence in recycling.
“When people hear ‘made from milk bottles’, they’re surprised – it’s something no one thought possible in food-grade products,” said Pete Camilleri, senior VP, ICBG, the parent company of IWAMB. “This is tangible proof that recycling works and that small changes in an individual household can make a big impact.”
The range includes resealable bags in snack, sandwich, freezer, and storage sizes, as well as kitchen tidy bags; durable bin liners designed for everyday household use and available in three sizes.
Moreover, the bags are resealable, are BPA-free, leak-proof, and freezer-safe.
The IWAMB range is available in major supermarkets across Australia and New Zealand.
