Australian confectionery brand Dollar Sweets has expanded globally securing new businesses in the US, Asia and New Zealand with the help of Austrade.

In late 2021, Dollar Sweets’ sales and marketing director Philip Holm drew up a partnership with Austrade aiming to double the brand’s exports by 2025.

“Austrade did a market selection survey to help us determine which markets held the most potential for our products,” said Holm. “Once we decided on the markets, Austrade shared some key tasks we needed to do for each market.”

During the past 12 months, the company has struck a deal with US-based deep-discount retailer 99 Only and is in ongoing discussions with 10 other companies for a private-label contract.

In Singapore, FairPrice supermarket chain has placed an initial order worth $200,000 for Dollar Sweets’ bakery range with ongoing sales expected to double that annually.

The business has also launched 10 new lines in New Zealand and is exploring opportunities in the UAE, to supply Halal-certified products.

Founded in 1947, the family-owned business makes baking products, confectionery and ingredients for the industrial food sector.
