Michael James, the director of operations of Endeavour Group, will retire in September after 30 years in the business.

James has previously held several operational leadership roles in supermarkets and retailers such as BWS, Woolworths Metro and Big W before returning to the group as the director of Dan Murphy’s in 2018.

He became director of operations for Endeavour in 2020.

Steve Donohue, Endeavour Group CEO and MD, said James helped the company become an “effective and efficient” business under his leadership.

“He’s provided invaluable support to team members throughout the group, especially in improving customer experience today and into the future.”

Of his retirement, James said: “I have had a very fortunate career in retail, the good times and the tough times and finding the ‘knack’ to balance the outcomes.

“I have enjoyed all the teams I’ve worked with, and locations I’ve lived in and visited across the country.”
