Hollywood celebrity Kendall Jenner’s hand-crafted tequila brand 818 Tequila has launched in Australia.
The brand says both the spirit and brand have been “meticulously designed to speak to the conscious tequila consumer”.
The company harvests its agave plants at peak maturity before slow-cooking each batch in traditional ovens for roughly 30 hours.
The spirit is naturally fermented before distillation inside an alembic copper pot still and aged in American and French oak barrels.
The company’s portfolio includes four blends – the first being 818 Tequila Blanco (retails for $100) – which offers a bright and crisp citrus finish with notes of almond, key lime pie and toasted coconut.
Reposado (retails for $110) offers a smooth caramel finish with notes of cooked agave and pecan pie, aged in a blend of oak barrels for three months.
Añejo (retails for $130) boasts notes of orange peel, chocolate, and toffee and was aged for more than a year in oak barrels, while Eight Reserve – a blend of Añejos – was aged up to eight years in French and American barrels.
Director of Tequila Operations, David Yan Gonzalez, said: “We want to keep as classic a profile as possible, this was very important for our team, Kendall included.
“We’re celebrating the tradition of this centuries-old industry and doing something really special for the heritage of Mexico.”
Tanya Mah, head of marketing at Amber Beverage Australia, said she is “thrilled” with the launch and added the demand for Tequila has been “rapidly increasing” and shows “no signs of slowing”.
“Kendall Jenner and the 818 team are incredible brand partners and have created a brand that drives category excitement and can recruit new drinkers into agave.”
The 818 Tequila line is available exclusively for purchase from select Liquorland and First Choice Liquor Market.
