TWE combines wine and sake in new Sun Monkey

Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has launched Sun Monkey, the world’s first sake-infused wine collection, in Australia.

Sun Monkey comes in two sake-infused flavours namely Shiraz Grenache and White Blend, both available in 750ml bottles. Shiraz Grenache is a combination of bright and fruity notes, while White Blend is a fusion of Australian chardonnay, traminer, and riesling.

Sun Monkey wines originate from popular wine regions in South Australia, according to the company.

The company explained that it derived inspiration from Monkey King, the legendary symbol of freedom in Chinese folklore, for the brand.

“With so many different wines on the market it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd, so we are proud to introduce a world first sake flavour infused wine to allow emerging wine consumers an opportunity to enter the market without needing to know all the stuffy wine details, whilst also having a story to tell around the dinner table,” said Kjetil Undhjem, chief marketing officer at TWE.
