Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has agreed to sell Rosemount, Ingoldby and Secret Stone to AG Oatley Wines, returning the iconic Australian wine brand to its founding family.
The deal includes the three brands and associated inventory, with distribution through Oatley Fine Wine Merchants expected to begin on October 23.
Rosemount was founded by Bob Oatley in 1969 and became one of Australia’s best-known wine brands, gaining international prominence during the 1990s. The family sold the business to Southcorp in 2001, before it became part of TWE.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring Rosemount home to our family,” said Sandy Oatley, owner of AG Oatley Wines.
“I worked with my father building Rosemount into a globally recognised Australian brand for over 20 years. To have the opportunity to now work on the brand with my daughter Nicky is an extraordinary full-circle moment.”
The acquisition comes as TWE streamlines its portfolio, reducing its focus from 76 brands to 30 priority global and regional labels. The strategy aims to concentrate investment on key brands, including Penfolds, DAOU and Matua, alongside regional labels such as Wynns and Pepperjack.
TWE will retain royalty-free rights to sell Rosemount in Europe for up to three years.
