Yowie US rollout gathers pace

yowieYowie’s rollout in the US is continuing to gather pace, with the Australian confectionery company confirming it will launch in more than 1300 Safeway stores across the US from next month.

The launch will begin from March across 1318 Safeway stores in Northern California, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, and the US North East.

The deal comes just over a week after the Perth-based company confirmed it had secured another major deal with US-based retail giant, Walmart, following a successful trial with the retailer in September 2014.

Yowie confectionery will be distributed in 1500 Walmart stores, including Walmart Supercentre also from next month.

Yowie says distribution has already begin to Safeway stores with orders in the process of dispatch, adding the number of checkout stands per store is in process of being confirmed as merchandising and display aspects are finalised.

Safeway Inc operates Safeway, Vons, Pavillions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, and Carr stores, and is one of the largest food and pharmacy retailers in North America based on sales.

The company operates 1326 stores in the US and Canada and had annual sales of $35.1 billion in 2013.
