Obela named the people’s choice

Obela

Customers have voted popular hommus maker Obela as Australia’s number one dip for the second year running.

Canstar Blue put 12 different brands to the taste test, including private label products from Coles, Woolworths and ALDI.

More than 1,600 adults who have purchased and eaten dip bought from a supermarket in the last month were surveyed.

Results showed that once again Obela stood alone when it came to overall customer satisfaction.

Obela stands out from the crowd – not just because of its eye-catching packaging, but consumers who try the brand end up going back for more,” said Megan Doyle, Head of Canstar Blue. “Obela may not be the cheapest brand in the supermarket fridges, but consumers are convinced it provides the best overall quality for those summer parties.”

Five-star ratings were few and far between in this year’s survey, with only four of the 12 brands recording top marks in one area or more. Obela scored five-star ratings in five out of six categories. ALDI’s Deli Originals was rated five stars on value for money, while Obela, Black Swan and Yumi’s achieved top marks for variety. Yumi’s also joined Obela is earning five stars for both taste and consistency, but Obela stood alone when it comes to packaging appeal and overall customer satisfaction.

“There’s no shame in buying private labels anymore, but do they offer the best value? Do the most expensive dips mean you’re getting the best? When it comes to dips, it’s all about the taste, and only two brands rated five stars in this area,” Doyle said.
