Australian jelly brand Hello Jello has entered supermarkets nationwide with a better-for-you jelly range, after securing a $2 million retail deal with Coles.
Using plant-derived sweetener thaumatin, the jelly range is extracted from katemfe fruit and contains less than 1gm of sugar and 3.7gms of protein per serving.
The company says the line excludes synthetic colourings, artificial flavourings, synthetic sweeteners, and added sulphites.
The initial retail lineup includes four fruit varieties: Raspberry, Pineapple, Strawberry, and Lime.
The range is available at Coles stores across Australia, with each sachet retailing for $3 and yielding four servings.
Founded by Melbourne-based entrepreneurs Jacqui Roth and Eliza Wallish, the company offers a jelly product designed as an alternative to traditional packaged desserts.
Wallish explained that the idea stemmed from examining retail jelly labels and noticing a lack of suitable options that captured the nostalgia of traditional desserts without undesirable ingredients, prompting them to formulate their own product.
“Seeing something that started as an idea between two friends become something families can now pick up in store and online feels equal parts surreal, exciting and terrifying, but mostly exciting,” said Roth.
With the business idea originating in 2023, Roth and Wallish sought alternatives to standard grocery store jellies. Over three years, the pair formulated recipes and presented the concept to retail buyers.
