General Mills consolidates Australian operations

General MillsConsumer food business General Mills has announced its decision to restructure its Australian operations.

In a statement released yesterday, the organisation confirmed the closure of its Victorian Mount Waverley manufacturing facility and the consolidation of its Australian manufacturing activity into an expanded production facility in Rooty Hill, New South Wales and broader Australian supply chain network.

The company confirmed all staff has been informed of the closure of the Mount Waverley facility, which will likely take place between April and June 2018.

General Mills will work to redeploy and relocate employees to Rooty Hill as appropriate, but it is likely that most roles from Mount Waverley will become redundant.

“The difficult decision to close the Mount Waverley facility, which makes pasta, sauce and ready-to-eat meals, was taken to simplify General Mills’ supply chain and secure the future growth of the business,” the company said.
