World’s first gin KitKat launches in Melbourne

gin kitkatNestlé is not one to shy away from innovation but its latest creation certainly pushes the boundaries. The confectionery giant’s KitKat Chocolatory has teamed up with Melbourne Gin Company to produce the first ever gin-infused KitKat, just in time for Christmas.

The team incorporated Australian native botanicals to create two distinct flavours. The batch baked wafers are smothered in gin-infused milk chocolate with caramelised macadamia nut and juniper berries or candied citrus and rosemary.

KitKat Chocolatory head chocolatier Connie Yuen said the experimentation process was “an exciting challenge”.

“Using gin as an ingredient has allowed us to play with incredible new flavour combinations. The refreshing botanical notes of the gin perfectly complement the smooth milk chocolate for the ultimate taste sensation this Christmas,” Yuen said.

Founder and master distiller at Melbourne Gin Company Andrew Marks said they jumped at the opportunity to partner with KitKat Chocolatory.

“Paying homage to London Dry Gin, we’ve chosen classic ingredients like citrus, coriander seeds and rosemary, paired with Australian Native botanicals for a Melbourne twist. We think Aussies are going to love the new KitKat Chocolatory x Melbourne Gin Company range,” Marks said.

The limited release creations will be individually handcrafted and available for purchase at KitKat Chocolatory in Central Melbourne. Eager buyers can avail of same day delivery to Melbourne metro and a click-and-collect service via the KitKat website.

The KitKat Chocolatory allows customers to create their very own KitKat with a selection of premium chocolate and ingredients.
