Mrs Macs serves up 600,000 pastries in first year at Optus stadium

mrs macsWest Australian family-owned food manufacturer Mrs Macs has been serving up its range of pies and sausages rolls to spectators at the Optus Stadium in Perth, with 600,000 units consumed since the venue opened in January 2018.

Twenty stadium outlets, including a dedicated Mrs Mac’s pie-shop, offer quality pastry products like the Dardanup EverTender Steak Pieto to hungry game goers.

A Sunday Funday $2 pie promotion sold 15,000 units alone during one Fremantle Dockers game, but the largest consumption was during the West Coast v Collingwood semi-final, with 1 in 7 fans have been tucking into the goods at the game.

The 60,000 seat Optus Stadium hosts major AFL finals, cricket and large international concerts that together attracted more than 2 million visitors.

“In our initial months at Optus Stadium, we made sure we were agile and worked closely with stadium management to connect fans to delicious savoury pastry products anywhere and anytime in the venue, said Mrs Mac’s general manager sales and marketing, Drew Fairnham.

“This was all about precise serving times, product offering and availability, and minimal wastage.”

Mrs Mac’s beat east coast competitors in late 2017 for the exclusive rights to supply its products at Optus Stadium for a five year period. It is one of the nation’s biggest savoury pastry producers with over 300 people based in the factory and head office in Western Australia, and a commercial office in Sydney. The company sources more than 80 per cent of its ingredients from within Western Australia and is the only Australian pie manufacturer with BRC Global Certification.
