Frucor Suntory to switch to hybrid cars by 2022

Drinks company Frucor Suntory will start using hybrid electric vehicles in place of its current fleet of cars in Australia and New Zealand. The company currently has nearly 200 conventional internal combustion engine vehicles which will be retired by 2022.

The sales fleet will be replaced with Toyota RAV4 GLX Hybrids, in a bid to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 13 per cent.

“From the outset, our ambition was to take a long-term view of sustainability. We wanted to invest in a process that would meet our determination to play our part in supporting New Zealand’s path to carbon neutrality by 2050,” Frucor Suntory head of sustainability Ben Walkley, said.

“Things like replacing our entire sales fleet with low-emissions vehicles not only help us to reduce our carbon footprint, they are also sound business decisions that help to reduce overall operating costs.”

Frucor Suntory was granted a CEMARS (Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme) certification which helps track carbon emissions, including where they originate, and monitor impact from reduction measures.
