Supermarket giant Woolworths has revealed new toy collectables for kids, collaborating with Disney+ on a new Ooshie collection, the first in the world to span multiple brands of the streaming service.

The Disney+ Ooshie collection includes pop culture favourites from Marvel, Star Wars, Disney and Pixar. Shoppers can collect toys for every $30 they purchase in store or online. The limited-edition collectables are available from August 26 until stocks last.

Children will get to collect nine Ooshies from four Disney+ universes, in total of 36 Disney+ Ooshies. They can get Elsa (Disney’s Frozen), Captain Marvel (Marvel), Woody (Pixar, Toy Story), and the Mandalorian (Star Wars).

“It’s been a difficult year as Australians navigate the challenges of the pandemic, so our goal by partnering with Disney once again is to bring more magic, surprise, and delight to our customers. From Frozen’s Elsa or The Mandalorian, here’s a Disney+ Ooshie for everyone in the family to enjoy,” Woolworths chief marketing officer Andrew Hicks said.

“When Disney+ launched in Australia in November last year, it quickly captured the hearts of millions of Australians by bringing together the world’s biggest entertainment brands on one streaming service,” Kylie Watson Wheeler, SVP & MD of The Walt Disney Company, Australia and New Zealand said.

Woolies said the launch of Disney+ Ooshie collection is postponed in Victoria until the lockdown is lifted. Hicks said in a statement the company will focus on operations and supplying customers with essentials during the restrictions and roll out the new collectables once it is safe.

Woolworths also renewed its recycling program with TerraCycle. Shoppers can drop any pre-loved Ooshies in store. They will be made into the bags the Ooshies are packaged in via kerbside yellow bins. The old toys will be recycled also to plastic pellets for outdoor furniture, such as garden beds, decks, fences and benches.

“Last year, our partnership saw thousands of Lion King Ooshies recycled through the program, which have now been used to create recycled benches,” GM of TerraCycle, Jean Bailliard, said.

Woolworths and Disney rolled out the Lion King-themed collection during the release of the blockbuster movie last year.
