Huon Aquaculture is to open its salmon-processing facility in Forrestdale, Western Australia this month.

The facility is where Huon’s salmon and ocean trout from Tasmania are turned into frozen products for the Western Australian market, offering locals fresher products direct from the farm.

The Forrestdale facility occupies more than 2000sqm and is equipped with similar specialised equipment as the Sydney site.

“Our new facility will supply consumers with delicious and easy-to-cook Tasmanian Huon salmon and ocean trout,” said Julie Gillies, national processing manager. “This local hub will also give us much greater flexibility to service our key food service and wholesaler partners across Western Australia.

“We’ve always been passionate about supporting local businesses and this facility is just one way that we are strengthening our existing local connections and working to build new relationships.”
