BWS has given its stores near the Sydney Mardi Gras precinct a makeover, with signage revamped to rainbow-coloured BWS YASSS to celebrate the three-week festival.
The liquor chain has also partnered with Sydney show-stopping drag queen Miss Prada Clutch to deliver drinks and special party packages to lucky customers.
The word “Yasss” means a vibrant form of yes, used out of excitement in a situation, and yasss, Miss Prada Clutch will personally deliver the party package, which includes a bottle of British singer-songwriter, and Sydney Mardi Gras headliner Rita Ora’s premium tequila brand Próspero, a bottle of Mishka Vodka, and glitter pops for that Mardi Gras vibe.
“Yas darlings, I’m so excited to be part of BWS Mardi Gras celebrations. The BWS YASSS store signs are fabulous because ‘Yas’ has its origins in our glittering drag community and is a fierce expression of support,” said Clutch.
The rainbow signages on three stores – BWS Paddington South Dowling Street, BWS Paddington Oxford street and BWS Darlinghurst – has already gained social-media traction. Especially on TikTok with user jessksmith2 sharing a video of the BWS Oxford Street, writing: “BWS, you’ve outdone yourself.” The video already has 130,000 views and almost 18,000 likes, and counting.
“We are proud partners of the Sydney Mardi Gras because we value diversity and inclusivity,” said Scott Davidson, BWS MD. “We champion individuality and celebrate the diversity of our team, making sure all team members feel valued, respected and empowered for who they are.
“Our whole team loves getting involved in the Sydney Mardi Gras celebrations every year,” he added.
Woolworths Group also participates in the MidSumma March in Melbourne and other local pride events around Australia.
