Ecostore hand wash helps save endangered NZ birds

New Zealand’s plant and mineral-based healthcare brand, Ecostore, is launching a limited-edition hand wash to help save the country’s endangered birds.

For every limited-edition hand wash product sold, Ecostore will donate 50 cents to New Zealand’s independent conservation organisation Forest & Bird to help protect Underbirds, those birds lesser known by the public and with less than 250 of each species remaining.

“We’re proud to use our voice to raise awareness of the decline of our precious native species,” said Pablo Kraus, CEO of Ecostore. “By supporting Forest & Bird in their conservation efforts, we’re keen to inspire Kiwis to protect and restore Aotearoa’s wildlife and wild places.”

The product contains plant and mineral-based formulation and comes with Ecostore’s signature lemongrass fragrance. The hand wash products feature different Underbirds illustrations designed by Kraus –  Kakaruia, Tuturuatu, and Kaki – representing three native habitats in the country.

“We can all play our part in helping restore the environment so that our native birds can flourish,” said Kraus. “Volunteer, plant native trees, vote in Bird of the Year to support Forest & Bird with a donation, and reuse and refill our Limited Edition bottles.”

According to Forest & Bird, about 80 per cent of New Zealand’s native birds are in trouble and some are at risk of extinction. An estimated 72,000 native birds, chicks, and eggs are killed every day by introduced predators.
