Chocolate and cocoa products manufacturer, Barry Callebaut, has completed the expansion of the factory in Campbellfield it acquired in 2020.
The expanded factory allows the group to significantly increase its production capacity and offerings, which include liquid chocolate, compound, buttons, chips and specialties such as coatings and fillings. The company said its facilities in Campbellfield can serve the entire food industry in Australia, positioning it to become the leading chocolate manufacturer in the country.
“This factory expansion underlines Barry Callebaut’s ongoing commitment to Australia,” said Jo Thys, president of Barry Callebaut Asia Pacific. “The facility further strengthens our regional footprint in the Asia Pacific, producing safe and high-quality products.”
The expansion, which covers an 11,000sqm site, comes at a time when the country is seeing a growing demand for high-quality chocolate and cocoa products. According to Euromonitor, Australia is one of the largest chocolate and confectionery markets in the Asia Pacific, accounting for the highest consumption per capita (5.1kg) in the region last year.
