Yowie Surprise-Inside chocolates make a comeback

Australian confectionery brand Yowie says its Suprise-Inside chocolates will be available across Coles stores nationwide from May 9.

The chocolates were a phenomenon in the mid-90s when at the product’s peak, Australian consumers were buying 1 million Yowie chocolates a week.

Ingredients of the milk chocolates are sustainably sourced, they are free from artificial colours or flavours, contain no GMO, gluten, nuts or palm oil.

This time around, Yowie Surprise-Inside comes with an endangered species collectible range to educate eager fans and kids about the natural world. The current range is called ‘Animals with Superpowers’ and includes animal memorabilia with ‘real-life superpowers’.

Mark Schuessler, global CEO and MD at Yowie Group, said the company is looking to achieve 30 per cent growth in Australian sales.

“The Coles deal brings the total number of Yowie stockists to more than 3000 stores nationally. We’ve had fantastic support from Australian retailers since our relaunch,” he said.

Supermarkets and retailers including Woolworths, Kmart, Big W, The Reject Shop and IGA stores already stock the products, which are also sold in the US.
