Vienna-based hydration brand Waterdrop is seeking to “shake up” Australia’s beverage industry with the launch of its Microdrinks, a tiny cube alternative to sugary drinks in plastic bottles.
Waterdrop’s Microdrinks are cubes filled with vitamins and flavour ready to be mixed into water in any container to make hydration “fun and tasty”. The cubes are sugar-free, made from real plant and fruit extracts, and come in various flavours, from herbal to sweet.
“With Australians focussing so much on health and sustainability, we are committed to encouraging consumers to drink more water for better health,” said Paul Sprokkreeff, CEO at Waterdrop Australia.
“We are also determined to reduce plastic consumption and CO2 emissions as part of our mission to improve the planet.”
The company recently announced the 2023 Australian Open champion, Novak Djokovic, as a global ambassador and investor in the business.
“I had to unlock many different spheres of knowledge and apply them to my everyday life,” added Djokovic. “A healthy lifestyle includes proper hydration with no concessions on environmental impact.”
The company explains that it can save plastic compared to traditional bottled drinks through individual recyclable packaging of each cube and that the plastic in a single cap of a conventional bottle is equivalent to 10 Microdrinks.
The entire Waterdrop range is available beginning February 15 and can be purchased online via waterdrop.com.au
