Lion Australia shakes up executive team

Lion has appointed new leaders in Australia to drive growth in new directions and boost Lion’s market position.

Anubha Sahasrabuddhe, pictured above, is currently Lion’s chief marketing officer, and will take over as chief growth officer, expanding her responsibilities to cover strategy, data, digital, and technology.

“Creating a standalone growth portfolio within the business allows us to further prioritise investment in innovation and new market opportunities while continuing to grow our global brand portfolio,” said CEO Sam Fischer. 

“Anubha has played a critical role in driving Lion’s innovation and thought leadership agenda forward, and I know she will take on expanded responsibilities with enthusiasm and purpose, ensuring we’re delivering a best-in-class digital experience for our customers, consumers and our people.”

Rachel Ellerm has also been named marketing director for Lion Australia. Ellerm is the marketing director for Lion New Zealand and has mroe than 25 years of experience in the alcoholic beverages, consumer goods, and retail industries, including executive marketing positions at Coca-Cola, Goodman Fielder, and Yum! Brands. She has also previously won the prestigious “NZ Marketer of the Year” award.

Ed Stening has also been named GM – Spirits by Lion and will oversee the Vanguard Luxury Brands spirits distribution business, which Lion bought in 2019 along with a stake in the award-winning Four Pillars Gin.
