Krispy Kreme has teamed up with Belgian biscuit brand Lotus Biscoff and has created two limited-edition doughnuts inspired by the cookies.
Established in 1932 at a local bakery in Lembeke, Belgium, Lotus Biscoff is a crunchy caramelised biscuit with a hint of cinnamon. Since its launch, it has expanded into other products like spreads, ice creams, and chocolates.
The first of two flavours, the Lotus Biscoff Creme doughnut, is a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut smothered in Lotus Biscoff spread and finished with a hand-drizzled swirl of Lotus Biscoff Creme.
The next creation is the Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake doughnut, consisting of a signature shell-filled doughnut dipped in Lotus Biscoff spread, filled with cream cheese frosting and topped with biscuit crumbs and chocolate ganache.
For the “daring doughnut fans”, the doughnut company says its Biscoff-filled creations also present as a coffee hack to turn morning coffee into a “sinfully sweet beverage”.
“Simply take a bite and squeeze the Biscoff filling into your piping hot coffee for a biscuity twist on your morning beverage,” suggests Krispy Kreme.
Carly Higgerson, head of Krispy Kreme SA, said the Biscoss collaboration has been received well in other countries.
“Krispy Kreme is known for its wildly imaginative collaborations, so we always listen to our customers to see what they want to see or taste next,” said Higgerson.
The new Krispy Kreme x Lotus Biscoff doughnuts are available in Krispy Kreme stores and OTR convenience stores across SA for a limited time.
