FMCG companies called to join the free UK Market Entry Accelerator Program

FMCG companies called to join the free UK Market Entry Accelerator Program

Australian FMCG businesses looking to enter the UK market are invited to join this year’s free Market Entry Accelerator program, offered by the QUT Advisory in collaboration with Humble.

Humble is an Australian-based organisation that supports start-ups and SMEs by providing events, masterclasses, programs, and advisory services.

The program includes a five-week market entry strategy course, two-week in-market immersion, and an opportunity to pitch to a leading supermarket chain in the UK.

The five-week Brisbane market entry strategy program includes:

  • Building a value proposition and brand to compete in the UK.
  • Export market investment strategies.
  • Strategic partnerships, channels and creating an opportunity pipeline.
  • An opportunity to virtually pitch to a leading UK Supermarket chain – in 2019, the program’s retail partner was Sainsbury’s.

While the two-week London immersion includes:

  • An on-the-ground market access program with activities to support participants’ understanding of the funding landscape, legal and regulatory considerations (including GDPR, UK contract law and Brexit) and networking opportunities.
  • Meetings with key distributors, partners, customers and investors.
  • An opportunity to meet with the heads of several leading UK supermarket chains.

To qualify for the program, companies must be ready to scale globally; have robust supply chain and production practices; and have sufficient experience supplying products to large retailers. Export experience is preferred.

In addition, the company must possess a strong commitment to export to the UK market, have a dedicated team that can implement technical infrastructure and resources; and have sufficient funding to execute the pitch (for example, a pitch to Sainsbury’s).

Participants should at least be a CEO, with optional support from other C-level executives or business development roles, who can commit to attending all workshops and program activities and can finance the international travel to London.

Humble added that all participants would leave the program having had the opportunity to pitch to at least one major UK supermarket.

The program is supported by the Australian Federal Government and is set to commence in May this year. Applications will close April 21. While there is no charge to successful applicants, companies must be able to pay an estimated $6000 in travel costs for the in-market section of the program.
