Air New Zealand to taste-test 500 homegrown wines

Air New Zealand has invited 125 of the country’s wineries to showcase their products for consideration onboard.

About 500 homegrown wines will go through a “rigorous blind taste testing” process by top wine experts and wine connoisseurs.

The selection will be sold across the airline’s Business Premier cabins and select lounges. Varietals selected include Chardonnay, Syrah, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Air New Zealand chief customer and sales officer, Leanne Geraghty, said it is a “toast” to the country’s national wine growers.

“Showcasing the best of New Zealand’s wine industry onboard is a win-win for both our customers and our local wineries.

“It’s a delicious way to support our economy and promote our country’s world-class wines in places we fly to.”
