A batch of Rinda pineapple lollies was discovered to have been mixed with methamphetamine.

What were supposed to be charity donations to the Auckland City Mission, the New Zealand Drug Foundation found the candies – supplied anonymously – to have three grams of the illegal substance.

Reuters reported that three people sought medical attention after sampling the sweets, including a kid, a teenager, and a charity worker. Fortunately, none were fatal, and the victims were able to check out of the hospital soon after.

Detective inspector Glenn Baldwin of Auckland City CIB said that police are looking into how far the lollies have circulated.

“It is vital that the public are aware of these lollies and ensure they are secured and handed over to Police,” he explained.
