SSM International has issued a nationwide recall of its Coco2 infant formula range due to incorrect scoop sizes and feeding instructions on product labels, which pose a potential safety risk.
The recall affects the Coco2 800-gram products with an expiry date of January 2027:
- Stage 1 Coco2 Infant Formula.
- Stage 2 Follow-on Formula.
- Stage 3 Toddler Drink.
According to Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), the affected products were sold through Go-Vita and Priority Health in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and SA, as well as Priceline stores in Queensland. The products were also available online via national retailers.
FSANZ says the labelling error may lead to improper formula preparation, which could result in incorrect nutrient intake for infants and young children.
“This represents a food safety concern, particularly for infants and toddlers who require carefully balanced nutrition,” FSANZ said in a recall notice.
Consumers are advised to return the affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone with health concerns should seek advice from a healthcare professional.
The Coco2 range was launched last year and marketed as the world’s first coconut-based infant and toddler formula. SSM International claims the products are rich in lauric acid, a fatty acid found in breast milk, and are designed to support digestion and nutrient absorption.
No illnesses linked to the recalled products have been reported to date.
