Mars pet food brand Advance has launched an in-store interactive activation named ‘Sniffari’ across Petbarn locations nationwide, providing indoor mental stimulation for dogs during the winter months.
The initiative follows data indicating that household pets experience a 48 per cent decline in activity levels during colder seasons as outdoor walking time decreases.
“Winter doesn’t have to mean long, cold walks in miserable or wet weather,” says Cathy Knight at Mars Petcare’s Advance.
“There are so many easy ways to build enriching exercises into your pet’s everyday routine, helping them stay happy and fulfilled through colder months. These five simple tactics will help keep your dog mentally, physically and emotionally stimulated all winter long,” said Knight.
Featuring a sequence of designated scent stations, the in-store setup is designed to engage a dog’s sense of smell.
While tracking the trail, owners receive brief health and wellness tips focused on managing their pets’ health through the winter.
The brand has also introduced a ‘snuffle ball’ product, allowing consumers to replicate scent-tracking activity at home.
Alongside the retail activation, the company issued a set of seasonal pet care recommendations centred on five core areas: indoor games, cognitive training, social bonding, sniffing stimulation, and in-store activation.
The Sniffari activation will remain operational in Petbarn stores throughout this month.
Earlier this month, Mars Petcare opened Australia’s largest cat food kitchen in Wodonga.
