Schmackos and Bega have partnered to create a Strapz dog treat, inspired by Bega peanut butter.
Mars Petcare makes the dog treats at its Bathurst factory in Australia with real beef and peanut butter flavouring.
The new product was developed after research showed dogs highly desired peanut butter.
“With one-third of all dog feeding occasions involving treats, it’s clear we love to pamper our dogs and want the best for them,” said Mars Petcare Australia and New Zealand’s marketing director, Anthony Dean.
“As the popularity of dog care and treats continues to grow, it’s important for us at Mars to respond to pet parents’ needs and continually innovate and develop new offerings and flavours that ensure both enjoyment and quality for our furry friends,” he said.
The packaging is made from 60 per cent recycled plastic, and the product – which contains no artificial flavours – is available at Coles and independent supermarkets.
