Global food giant Danone has introduced its flagship high-protein yoghurt brand, YoPro, to the New Zealand market.

Manufactured in Victoria’s Kiewa Valley, the New Zealand product lineup includes standard YoPro pouches and pots containing 15g of protein per serve, alongside the YoPro Perform line delivering 20g of protein per serve.

The company says both ranges feature zero added sugar, contain no artificial sweeteners and will be sold exclusively through Foodstuffs North Island at Pak’nSave and New World retail locations.

First launched in Australia in 2017, the brand’s expansion into New Zealand increases YoPro’s international retail footprint to 35 countries.

According to the company, the expansion aims to capture rising consumer demand for functional, high-protein snack formats while offering convenient options to increase daily protein intake.

“YoPro is a great example of that in action, delivering healthy and science-backed dairy nutrition that helps New Zealanders stay active, feel stronger, and get more out of every day,” said Kathy Cavill, GM of Danone Oceania.

The product rollout follows the French company’s recent acquisition agreements in the region, including plans to buy Made Group, the owner of local dairy brand The Collective, and acquire the remaining 49 per cent stake in its Australian fresh dairy joint venture with Saputo Dairy Australia. Both transactions are scheduled to close later this year.
