McCain Foods sells SA plant

McCain Foods has sold its potato processing plant in Penola, South Australia to Midfield Group, a meat processor and exporter.

As part of the acquisition, McCain Foods has a five year lease back arrangement with an option to renew for the storage of up to 40,000 tonnes of potatoes on the site.

The majority of potatoes from Penola are processed in Ballarat, and are sold in Queensland and NSW.
