Independently-owned and operated coffee roaster, Merlo, has announced two new stores in Queensland amid wider refurbishment plans.
The first of the stores, located at the UQ Campus in Indooroopilly, is currently operating, while the latter, situated in Victoria Point, is set to open September 12.
The news comes as the company, which introduced the first espresso machine in Queensland, plans further redevelopments for its Springfield and Fortitude Valley stores.
The refurbishment of the Queensland venues include implementing state of the art coffee bean roasting units on each site, and transforming its flagship Fortitude Valley store into a coffee training facility.
Also signalling a major coup for the company is confirmation that it has secured space in Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Markets, which is expected to open by the end of the year.
James Wilkinson, CEO, Merlo, is overseeing the expansion program, which will see the number of company owned cafes and roasting houses grow from 12 to 14 over the next three weeks.
