The company that makes Nurofen painkillers has been fined $1.7 million for misleading Australian consumers.
Reckitt Benckiser was ordered to pay the penalty in a federal court ruling in Brisbane, which was video-linked in Sydney today.
The court ruled last year that the company misled Australian consumers by claiming that identical products were each formulated to target specific types of pain.
Nurofen Back Pain, Nurofen Period Pain, Nurofen Migraine Pain and Nurofen Tension Headache all contain the same active ingredient, ibuprofen lysine 342mg.
